BOGOTA, Oct 5 (Reuters) - The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on Thursday approved a $200 million loan for Colombian micro-, small- and medium-sized companies.
The aim is to increase credit to finance investments focused on innovation and business digitalization and to improve environmental sustainability, the IDB said in a statement.
Colombia has around 1.6 million registered companies, of which about 99% are small businesses representing 40% of the country's gross domestic product, according to IDB data. These companies also generate four out of every five jobs in Colombia.
